Past Life

Purpose This spread draws from the esoteric tradition linking tarot to soul memory and karmic patterns. The Wheel of Fortune (Major Arcana X) embodies karma—the eternal cycle where past actions create present circumstances. Judgment (Major Arcana XX) depicts souls rising to answer the call of awakening, recognizing past life connections. The Theosophical tradition (Blavatsky, Besant) integrated these concepts into Western occultism, teaching that understanding past lives liberates us from unconscious repetition. This 6-position timeline maps the soul's journey: who you were, what remained unresolved, the pattern that persists, how it echoes now, the lesson to learn, and the liberation available.

When to use it When experiencing déjà vu with people or situations, feeling inexplicably drawn to certain places or time periods, recognizing instant deep connections with strangers, or noticing recurring life patterns that seem to have no present-life origin. Particularly powerful on soul-significant dates (birthdays, anniversaries of major life events) or during deep introspection phases.

When to avoid it Avoid when seeking to escape present-life responsibility by blaming past lives. Not suitable for mental health crises—this is spiritual exploration, not therapy. Skip if you're approaching with pure skepticism (the cards reflect your openness) or seeking entertainment rather than genuine insight.

How to read it PAST_IDENTITY reveals who you were—court cards suggest social role (Page=youth/servant, Knight=warrior/traveler, Queen=nurturer/authority, King=leader/elder). Major Arcana indicate archetypal roles (Hermit=priest/scholar, Empress=mother/creator). PAST_CHALLENGE shows the unresolved wound; The Tower suggests traumatic death, 5s indicate loss and conflict. KARMIC_PATTERN is the crucial insight—this is what keeps repeating. CURRENT_ECHO shows how the pattern manifests now—same suit as PAST_CHALLENGE confirms direct connection. SOUL_LESSON reveals what you incarnated to learn; The World suggests completion of a cycle. LIBERATION shows freedom available when the lesson is integrated.
